The step setting for the laboratory preparation of aqueous Zn-ion coin batteries with rate performance

Today, we will demonstrate the setup of the aqueous Zn-ion coin batteries rate performance test steps.

According to the literature, the voltage range is 0.2 V~1.8 V. The specific charge/discharge voltage range is recommended to be determined by LSV or CV curves. 

We will set the current density gradients to 0.1 A/g, 0.2 A/g, 0.5 A/g, 1 A/g, 3 A/g, and 0.1 A/g. Assuming an active material mass of 1 mg, the current gradients are 0.1 mA, 0.2 mA, 0.5 mA, 1.0 mA, 3 mA, and 0.1mA.

Open the BTS software, right-click on the channel where the battery is being held, and click “Single start.” This will open the step settings interface.

The rate test step setting can be seen as multiple sets of CC test, and we will follow the method of constant current test step settings.

Before the test begins, the battery needs to be left to soak the electrodes for a set period of time, which is set symbolically to 1 min in this case.

Select the constant current charge and constant current discharge steps, enter a current of 0.1 mA, set the charge cut-off voltage to 1.8 V and the discharge cut-off voltage to 0.2 V, and then set the starting step of the cycle, and the cycle count to 10.

Follow the same method to set the cycle steps for different currents. It should be noted that the starting step of each current is different.

In others boxes, you can set the upper and lower voltage protection limits, which will not be demonstrated here.

 In the main channel on the left, set the time record settings to 3 seconds, enter the mass of active material below, save the step template, and then click "Start" to start the test.
